What we make
Samantha is a live phone interpreter. Pick two languages, place a call, and Samantha interprets both directions in real time across 74 languages. It is prepaid rather than subscription, and it runs over an ordinary phone call so it works without a strong data connection.
We built it because the existing options ask two people to hunch over one screen and take turns pressing a button. A conversation should sound like a conversation.
How we think about your data
Interpretation means handling the most personal thing a product can handle: what people actually say to each other. We have tried to design for that rather than apologize for it afterward.
- We do not store call audio. Not by default, not optionally. It is interpreted as it passes through and then it is gone.
- Written transcripts are off unless you turn them on, per call, and they are deleted automatically after 90 days.
- No advertising, no analytics SDKs, no tracking, and nothing sold to anyone. There is no second business model here.
- You can delete everything at any time, from inside the app or from a web page that needs no login.
The specifics, including exactly which providers see what, are in the privacy policy. It is written to be read.
What Samantha is not
Automated interpretation is useful and it is not a substitute for a professional. Samantha cannot reach emergency services, and it should not stand in for a qualified human interpreter in medical, legal, or safety-critical settings. We would rather say that plainly on our own website than bury it in a disclaimer.
